What to Expect at Your First Appointment
We recommend bringing a family member with you to your first appointment. Hearing loss is a family issue, and it helps to have support from a loved one to help you understand information. Before your appointment, we will have you complete a medical history form providing us with some basic information.
- To begin your appointment, we will discuss what brought you in, where you are having trouble hearing, and what your goals are.
- Then we will perform an ear exam by looking inside your ears for any signs of ear infection or built-up earwax.
- After we’ve looked inside your ears then we will perform the hearing evaluation. This usually takes about 20-30 minutes.
- Afterwards we will discuss the results of your audiogram and answer any questions you may have.
- If you would be a good candidate for hearing aids, we will go over what type of devices we think you would benefit from. We carry demo hearing aids in our office so you can see how small they are and how they feel in your ears.
